General rules for the game-tournaments at The GatheringThese rules apply to all game-tournaments, if the rules of the tournament itself don't say otherwise.
Rights to participate
Every participant with valid ticket to The Gathering 2013 has the right to participate in game-tournaments held.
Members of the crew can also participate.
Every person who wants to participate must be registered via both web (if the tournament requires it) and must register/check in at the game-desk before the registration deadline.
Number of Tournaments per participant
Every participant can compete in as many tournaments as he/she wants, but never more then one time in the same tournament.
Please note that it is the player's responsibility to ensure that they schedule their participation in the tournaments appropriately so that they will be able to play all the required games they have signed up for. Tournaments may run concurrently (at the same time), and The Gathering staff will disqualify any individual or team who fails to show up at the appropriate time to play a round/game in any tournament.
Minimum number of participants to start a tournament
A tournament will only be held if four (4) or more players/teams compete. If this number is not reached, the tournament can be cancelled or merged with a similar tournament.
The Gathering reserves the rights to disqualify players/teams for any reason we see fit, some examples being breaking the rules of a tournament, or any of the general rules for all tournaments.
The following are some, but not all cases:
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct
- Showing up too late to a match
- Unnecessarily stalling a game
Release of Demo/Replay
The Gathering reserves the non-exclusive right to publish all demos/replays and other films/photography taken during the tournaments.
Requirements for availability
It is mandatory for all players/team-officials to be available at all times during the tournament. This also applies to qualifiers taking place on the web.
Players and/or team officials will stay in the IRC channel # tg.game on quakenet and the given IRC channel for the game they participate in.
Players will use the name and/or nickname they signed up with. This is to make it easier for everyone to know who is contacting who.
Everyone should attend the prize ceremony that takes place right after the final of the tournament. This applies to all tournaments. Players / teams not participating may lose all or part of their prize.
It is the participant's own responsibility to ensure that The Gathering's administration have the correct contact and bank account information in order to pay out the prizes.
If there are too few participants in a tournament, The Gathering reserves the right to remove parts of the prizes for the competition. This may also occur if the minumum number of participants is met, as stated in Paragraph 3.
All complaints must be addressed formally within a maximum of 24 hours after the scheduled start of the game in question. Please ensure that if you are submitting a complaint, you are thorough in your exaplantion, being as explicit as possible as to the nature of the complaint.
Changes in the rules
The Gathering reserves the right to modify, adjust, remove and add new rules until the doors close for TG13. When the rules are updated, they will be amended on The Gathering's website. It is the participant's responsibility to ensure they act according to the most recently published rules.
