What is h2g2?

h2g2 is the Earth Edition of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the best-selling book by Douglas Adams. h2g2 is the unconventional guide to Life, the Universe and Everything, written by visitors to the web site, and if you register you can help us fill in the holes in the guide and join in the whole h2g2 experience (see below for more details on registration).

There are two main things you can do with h2g2:

• Ask h2g2 - You can do this using the search engine, by browsing the Guide, or by asking the community. We've already got entries on a huge range of subjects, from recipes for Yorkshire Pudding to what it's like to be a bone marrow donor, from Homer Simpson to Homer's Illiad.

• Tell h2g2 - We want you to tell h2g2 about your world. When you register (which is totally free - see below for details) you can write your own Guide Entries. Being a guide to absolutely anything and everything, h2g2 is obviously incomplete - help us fill the holes!

You'll also meet some of the liveliest people on the net - the members of h2g2 who, together, are creating the Guide.

You also get access to h2g2's registered front page, which keeps you informed of daily additions to the Guide, community activity and all that's happening in the world of the Hitchhiker's Guide.
