Q: How much space do I have available at my seat?
A: One seat = 80x60cm tablespace like last year
Q: I ordered the bracelet service at partyticket.net. When will I receive the bracelet?
The bracelets are beeing shipped right now. You should have them no later than 19.03.05.
Q: I don't have a ticket - can I still get in?
A: Yes, but without a computer-seat. You can buy full-week passes or day-passes
to be at TG, but you cannot bring your computer since you will
not get any place to put it, a power or net-connection.
Q: When will The Gathering 2005 be held?
A: 23.03.05 - 27.03.05 (the doors open 09:00).
Q: Where will The Gathering 2005 be held, and how do I get there?
A: TG 2005 will be held at the olympic arena 'Vikingskipet' in Hamar, Norway.
To know more about how to get there, see our transport-pages.
Q: How many people will attend TG 2005?
A: 5200 all-week participants and in addition many hundred day-by-day visitors
will attend, making The Gathering is the largest computer party in the world
(yet again)!
Q: I represent a company that's interested in sponsoring TG 2005 -
who should I contact?
A: Send us an mail at sponsor@gathering.org
Q: How old do I have to be to attend TG?
A: There isn't any set age, but you'll have to be able to take care of yourself.
If you travel with someone in your family or your friends you should
be okay, no matter what age, though our general rule is that you must be able
to take care of yourself.
All participants under the age of 15 need to bring a signed statement from their parent or guardian allowing them to participate at the event.
Check this page for more information
Q: Can I sit with my friends?
A: Yes, you can pick seats next to each other in the Partyticket tableregistration.
Q: Will the TG-newsserver be up this year?
A: No, we'll be using a web-forum instead - http://forums.gathering.org/
Q: Do I need my own computer to attend TG?
A: No, but we won't lend you one and one could also argue that having a computer
is a big part of going to TG.
Q: Do we have to stand in a queue to get in this year too?!
A: Most likely, but we have taken steps to minimize the queue.
Q: What if my computer or other stuff is stolen/broken at TG?
A: The Gathering is not responsible for any economical losses, direct or indirect,
due to circumstanses connected to the event. However, we have never
had any big problems with theft or malice earlier and we don't expect this year
to be any different. Bringing your computer and spending your easter
at TG is safe. :)
Q: Will there be a <insert name here> compo at The Gathering
this year?
A: Check out our demoscene and game-pages for more information about what compos
we will host.
Q: Can i bring my supah-dupah-big megawattage sound system and blast
out a badly compressed version of some lame song?
A: Most likely, no. You can bring whatever you can fit in your space (80x60cm,
plus the space under the table) and that it doesn't pull more than
1 ampere from the powergrid.
Q: 1 ampere? Isn't that next to nothing?
A: Not really, if you bring your computer+monitor and a stereo, it is sufficient.
With 5200 participants, The Gathering pulls more electricity in
four days than Oslo Plaza Hotel uses in *one year*. There's something to think
about. :)
