Q: I don't have a ticket - can I still get in?
A: Yes, but without a computer-seat. You can buy full-week passes or day-passes
to be at TG, but you cannot bring your computer since you will
not get any place to put it, a power or net-connection.
Q: I'm on the waitinglist so I don't know if I will get a ticket or
not.
A: If you're on the waitinglist you will know if you get a ticket or not in
good time before TG, since all the unused/returned/remaining tickets
will be put into the waitinglist ticket-pool on the 20th of March. If your PTN-account
(www.partyticket.net) does not show tickets available to
you after that date, you do not have a ticket, sorry.
Q: I have a ticket I'm not going to use - what do I do?
A: You can sell it back to the ticket-system (www.partyticket.net)
before the 20th of March, which is the last day for refunds. You will get all
your money back except the ticket-fee.
Q: When will The Gathering 2004 be held?
A: From the 7th to 11th of April 2004.
Q: Where will The Gathering 2004 be held, and how do I get there?
A: TG 2004 will be held at the olympic arena 'Vikingskipet' in Hamar, Norway.
To know more about how to get there, see our transport-pages.
Q: How many people will attend TG 2004?
A: 5200 all-week participants and in addition many hundred day-by-day visitors
will attend, making The Gathering is the largest computer party in the world
(yet again)!
Q: How much does it cost?
A: For a normal full-week ticket, the price is 570,- (all prices are listed
as NOK (Norwegian Kroner) unless otherwise specified) + ticketfees at PTN,
but these are now sold out. The day-pass is 200,- and you will have to pay an
additional deposit of 400,- which you will get back when you leave the
hall. We also have a "family-ticket" which is valid for one day and
up to four family-members can use this to visit their loved one(s).
This ticket is 400,- with a 600,- deposit. If you want to buy a full-week ticket
without a computer-place, the price is the same as the normal
full-week ticket, 570+ticketfees at PTN.
Q: Where do I purchase these tickets?
A: The normal ticket can be bought from www.partyticket.net, the remaining ticket-types
can be bought at the door.
Q: I have some questions about the tickets, and I'm too lame to read
the ticket-FAQ,
I just want to sit back, drink some coke, be lazy and have someone hand me alle
the
answers I need. What do I do?
A: There are three things you can try; 1) Read the ticket-FAQ, 2) Read the ticket-FAQ,
or if both of those options fail, there's always the third way out; 3) Read
the ticket-FAQ!
Q: I represent a company that's interested in sponsoring TG 2004 -
who should I contact?
A: Send us an mail at sponsor@gathering.org
Q: How old do I have to be to attend TG?
A: There isn't any set age, but you'll have to be able to take care of yourself.
If you travel with someone in your family or your friends you should
be okay, no matter what age, though our general rule is that you must be able
to take care of yourself.
Q: Can I sit with my friends?
A: Yes, you can pick seats next to each other in the Partyticket tableregistration.
This will open in a very short while.
Q: I've lost the Partyticket-card I got last year? What do I do?
A: You'll register your card as 'lost' in Partyticket.
Q: Will the TG-newsserver be up this year?
A: No, we'll be using a web-forum instead - http://forums.gathering.org/
Q: Do I need my own computer to attend TG?
A: No, but we won't lend you one and one could also argue that having a computer
is a big part of going to TG.
Q: I want to be a TG 2004 crew member - what shall I do?
A: You apply for crew through http://wannabe.gathering.org, although you should
be made aware that most crew-members have been selected a long while ago
so your chances are pretty slim.
Q: Do we have to stand in a queue to get in this year too?!
A: Most likely, but we have taken steps to minimize the queue.
Q: What if my computer or other stuff is stolen/broken at TG?
A: The Gathering is not responsible for any economical losses, direct or indirect,
due to circumstanses connected to the event. However, we have never
had any big problems with theft or malice earlier and we don't expect this year
to be any different. Bringing your computer and spending your easter
at TG is safe. :)
Q: Will there be a <insert name here> compo at The Gathering
this year?
A: Check out our demoscene and game-pages for more information about what compos
we will host.
Q: Can i bring my supah-dupah-big megawattage sound system and blast
out a badly compressed version of some lame song?
A: Most likely, no. You can bring whatever you can fit in your space (80x60cm,
plus the space under the table) and that it doesn't pull more than
1 ampere from the powergrid.
Q: 1 ampere? Isn't that next to nothing?
A: Not really, if you bring your computer+monitor and a stereo, it is sufficient.
With 5200 participants, The Gathering pulls more electricity in
four days than Oslo Plaza Hotel uses in *one year*. There's something to think
about. :)
Q: I understand that everyone sleeps in the hall, but what if I don't
want to do that?
A: You can rent a hotel-room. We have made a special deal with Scandic Hotel
Hamar and the prices can be found under "Party info"
