The casemods has landed
The casemods has landed
With over 5000 people together under one roof, you need to make an effort to be seen. One way to do this is through case-modding. We have collected a couple of the coolest mods, and talked to the people creating them.

Bender
Bender Jan Erik Vangen (23) from Sundaløra has created a real eye-catcher. Inspired from the TV series Futurama, Jan Erik created his own Bender.

I chose Bender because he was the easiest one to create. He is already made of metal, and therefore easy to weld.
So you are a real Futurama fan?
- Oh yeah!

The case is not only cool to look at, it also contains some spectacular features. DVD's goes between its teeths, and at the top of the head Jan Erik inserted a W-LAN receiver. It also has a button that makes him talk.
- I have made everything myself, but a friend helped me with the welding. I started out in October-November and I had it finished right before The Gathering started. I get lots of comments from other participants. If anyone wants to see how I made it, they can check my work-log at the overklokking.no forum.

How much money have you spent on this project?
- Not much, around 1500 NOK.

Old Stereo
Radio killed the video-star ;) Fredrik Brun (18) from Drøbak didn’t have any case for his computer, and did not want to buy one either. He decided to use his old stereo.
- It’s not done yet. I want to make the fans controllable from the switches that controlled the radio signal. I also want to put a burning-rom in the top, where you could play vinyl records before.
How is it to bring an old stereo to TG? Does anyone even see that this is really a computer?
- It’s a bit unpractical. I needed a shelf to put it on. It isn’t enough room on my seat.
Last year I had my computer in an old printer, and people asked me all the time why the hell I brought a printer to The Gathering.

With help from grandpa
With help from grandpa Eirik Årdal (17) from Høyanger got help from his grandfather creating his case of wood.
- I think retail cases are boring and wanted to create something of my own. Something original that no one else had. My grandfather owns a factory where he creates various wooden products. I used one and a half month, creating the case.
Does anyone stare?
- Some of the people walking by turn around twice. It really draws attention. And that is ofcourse quite cool.
