Rules - Battlefield 1942
Rules for the Battlefield 1942 competition:

Basic rules:

Players: 4on4
Maps: Townsquare Trouble, Berlin and Stalingrad.
Tickets: 200.
Team change: One round will be played on each side.
Round time: 20 minutes.
Game type: Infantery fighting. Servermodification will remove grenades and tanks.
Gameplay: Single elimination, lose and you are out. There might be used bracket system in play offs, but because of no sureness of amount of teams that are going to participate we will not decide this yet. This entrance will be modified and set in stone at latest 3 days prior to TG.

Version:

As of today (1. March) the newest version is 1.61.

Delays and missing players:

If one or both teams are missing a player, they will have 10 minutes to get theyr players in after the scheduled start-time. If one or both teams does not have all players ingame within these 10 minutes, the team with most players ingame will win. If both teams have the same number of players ingame, the game will begin and the rest of the players can join as they are ready. If they do not show up, the game will be played as normal. If one team gets more players than the other, the game will also be played as normal. If the delay is due to technical problems caused by us, we will of course have an understanding for this and give reschedules as appropiate. And as a sidenote, game admins are humans, not machines. So if you have been really unlucky and gotten a virus or anything else that can be fixed in 15 minutes, the 10 minute rule is not COMPLETELY set in stone. We will however, NOT tolerate any delays due to people simply not beeing able to keep track of time.

Dropout:

If one or more players drops out of the game, the game must be paused. The team then has 5 minutes to get the player ingame again. The teams are allowed to get a reserve in the game, but if the team is not complete within 5 minutes. The other team can claim victory. Only one pause per team per match. Technical problems caused by us dismisses this rule and a game admin will decide what will happen after conferring with the teams. On network crash or similar, both clanleaders should come to the game area and seek me, Oliver, to discuss what will happen.

Server:

Game servers will be hosted and given out by the game crew. Ingame the server will be controlled by one of the game admins for bf1942. Server will be modified towards infantery gaming and will be running punkbuster. Information on server configuration can be given if wanted.

Server failure:

If the server crashes during a game the server will be restarted.

Spectators:

BF1942 as of now does not support any spectatoring like HLTV or similar, however, we will contact the crew currently developing BFTV and hear if they have an alpha ready that we can maybe test during The Gathering.

Ingame:

Each team in the game must have a unique clan tag, each member on the team must have the same tag so we can separate the teams from each other. This means that if your clans name is TCP, all clan-members must have the same prefix. (Read: Not [TCP], -TCP-, ]TcP[ etc. You must choose ONE!)

Tie:

If there is a tie in tickets, which has never happened in this game as far as we are aware, there will be played an extra round of 5 minutes. This round will count as «next round» and a teamchange will be done.

Cheating:

Any form of cheating or exploitation of bugs is not allowed. If cheating or explotation is detected, this must be documented with screenshots and reported to the game crew immediately. The team that has a cheater will be disqualified from the entire competition. If a team is in any way interfering with another team while they play or prepare to the game they will be disqualified. Preparation is defined as, but not limited to; sleep, practice games and/or planning. However, taking a sneak peak over the shoulder of a practicing team is considered smart, and not cheating, this is after all an event to have fun and learn new things.

Score Reporting:

Game score must be reported at ONCE by the winner on www.partyticket.net, and the loser MUST accept this on www.partyticket.net If the loosing team hasn't accepted within 15 minutes after the game is finished, talk to a representative from the game crew.

Complaints/other:

If there is anything unclear about these rules, it is the players responsibility to contact the game crew and get a clarification as soon as possible. You may contact any member of the Event:Game crew about general compo questions. Specific questions about the BF1942 compo may be directed to game@gathering.org. You may also, if in need of very quick answers seek out me, Oliver Tynes, directly at irc. I can be found on Efnet with static nick «oteren», and on quakenet with either «oteren» or «oteren|core|». Use /msg mynick to contact me, as I will not disclose any channels for several reasons. The channel #tg05 @ quakenet can also be used to reach most of the members of Event:Game.

At contact:

When you contact a game admin or a representative from the other team you are playing, registered nicks must be used. You must also clearly indicate what team you are playing for. If it is regarding a match also include the match-number.

Information about Opening rounds:

Opening rounds will be played at your own computers at The Gathering. The server will be set up by the game crew. IP and password to the servers will be given out at www.gathering.org hopefully an hour before the match begins.

Finals:

The finals will be played in the game-park near the game crew-area. By "finals" we refer to the finals You are allowed to bring your own mouse, mousepad, keyboard and headset. If you wish you use voice-com you must bring your own microphone/headset with microphone. (Standard minijack-connection, no fancy stuff as customizing of the compo-machine setup will not be allowed).

Voice-Com:

A Ventrilo-server and a Teamspeak-server will be available during the matches. There will be public channels for just chatting but also password protected channels for every team if the teams wish to use them. Only official Ventrilo and Teamspeak-servers can be used.

Summing up:

- Register on time
- Be at the game crew area (finals) at least 10 minutes before your match starts so you are ready to start right away.
- Make sure you understand all of the rules. If in doubt, contact the game crew.
- Any form of cheating will lead to the team in question to be disqualified and listed as a cheater on our website.
