At The Gathering this year we've cranked it up a notch - with loads of seminars
and workshops, everyone will find something that interrests them - no matter
what you're into; programming, graphics, games, network management, mathematics
and more...
A special treat this year is legendary programmer and game-designer David Fox,
who will be coming all the way from San Fransisco to inspire and tell us all
about his time as a designer and producer with LucasArts in the early years
that laid the groundwork for todays breathtaking games. He has worked on the
true classics: "Labyrinth", "Maniac Mansion", "Zak
McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders", "Indiana Jones and the Last
Crusade" and of course.. "Rescue on Fractalus!"
We are very excited about this and we hope you are too - so
bring your 8bit consoles, it's nostalgia-time!
A short list of what you can experience in the seminar-hall this year (more
will come!):
* Idéfagskolen will host several seminars focused on animation and rendering with Maya and also animation principles and techniques.
* Geir Arne Hjelle, a PhD-candidate from NTNU, will give a presentation about the wonders of fractals and their place as simple numbers in complex systems.
* EFN will talk about your digital rights as a modern consumer.
* FunCom will be turning you on to the latest rendition of their hit-game Anarchy Online, "Shadowlands".
* Microsoft will host several workshops on gaming-techniques, with special
guests.
* The TG Net-crew will give an orientation on the basics of building large
computernetworks - and making it work.
More information, and a final schedule of all the seminars will follow soon.
