Dex won the European championship that was hosted at TG Saturday. We caught him at the DDR-machines (big surprise) in the early morning-hours this sunny Sunday morning, and he agreed to do a quick chat with us.
His real name is Danny Iuliano, but he is known by the nickname Dex. Danny loves to perform, and he has travelled all the way from Biella (Italy) to Hamar, to compete in this tournament. The trip was a price he had won on an DDR-event in Italy. Dex thinks TG was a good place to host the tournament, and felt the competitors where really good, although he had experienced even better competition on tournaments back in Italy. He explains that although he loves performing, there are better dancers than him who doesn't like performing in tournaments. So if heading to Italy, you are advised against challenging (particularly) "Lion". Performance-artist or not, he admitted getting real nervous from all the cameras covering the final.
Dex has danced DDR for four years, and he still trains a lot. Due to some language-difficulties we didn't manage to find out how many DDR-tracks he dances each day, but at least he explained that he practiced DDR each and every day, and he have pay full price for each game like everyone else.
Dex have been to some smaller computer parties in Milan, and tells us that TG is "CRAZY big!". He will come back next year if there'll be another DDR-tournament here, and tell us that this title meant "very very very" much for him.
